Tip of the Week: Turn Off Bluetooth on Android When Not in Use
Bluetooth technology is one of the best ways to make the most of your Android device, but only if you know how to use it. Today, we wanted to provide a short overview of how you can use your Bluetooth technology with your Android device, as well as the importance of when and why to turn it on or off as needed.
How to Enable Your Bluetooth
The fastest and easiest way to turn your Bluetooth on is to use the quick access panel at the top of your Android’s screen. Just swipe down and you should see the option for Bluetooth right at the top. You might need to swipe down twice, depending on your device’s settings. Just tap the Bluetooth button until it is highlighted and turned on, then you should be all set. Now you just need to connect a paired device to your Android smartphone.
Alternatively, you can enable Bluetooth through the Settings application by following this path: Settings > Connected Devices > Connection Preferences > Bluetooth.
How to Turn Off Your Bluetooth
Sometimes you might need to turn your Bluetooth off, so to do so, just follow the reverse steps to what we detailed for enabling it. Just swipe down from the top of your Android device’s screen once or twice, select the Bluetooth button until it shows that it is turned off, and you’re all set. You can use the same steps as detailed previously to access it from the Settings app, only just make sure that the Bluetooth toggle is turned off instead of on.
Is It Really That Important?
Just like a wireless Internet connection, you don’t want your smartphone randomly connecting to any Bluetooth device out there. You never know what else the device could be connected to, especially in today’s age of hackers and cybersecurity breaches. You hear about them all the time in the news, so the last thing you want is to become a victim yourself. Do yourself a favor and disable your Bluetooth when it’s not in use, or at least make it so that your device doesn’t automatically connect to whatever is in range.
